“For yet a little while, and He who is coming will come and will not tarry” Hebrew 10:37
In the above verse we can observe one secret mystery from the scriptures. But before I go to it, I assume that we first know and trust that the word of God is truth, for Jesus has said in his prayer “your word is truth” John 17: 17. From the words of our Lord Jesus we have the testimony that the word of God is truth. The scripture also proves to us that the word of God is truth; for most prophesies of the Old Testament was fulfilled at the right time and situation, and the remaining prophesies are going to be fulfilled at their right time and situation.
You see the above verse (prophesy of Jesus’ coming) from the epistle to the Hebrews, it is saying after a short period of time He who is coming will come and will not tarry (delay/be late), the word “He” refers to our Lord Jesus, so that according to the rightful biblical testimony we are assured that Jesus is coming soon in this part of Scripture. In addition to that verse 38 in the same book it also says “Now the Just shall live by faith”. Therefore we got to have a sound faith and trust what the word of God says is going to be accomplished without any doubt; for the LORD has said “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away” Luke21:33.
Are you able to grasp how the verse we have noted is going to be fulfilled in its time? Jesus also gave us a wonderful hope and a blessed assurance of his returning back soon, he said “I am going to prepare a place for you in my Father’s house, for there is a lot of place in that, then in order for you to be where I am, I will come back and take you with me”.
This is what the Hebrew writer is saying about Jesus’ soon coming to take us with him. Paul also mentioned this coming of our Lord:
“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words” – 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18.
He said “comfort each other by these words”, the words that say <Jesus is coming to take us home with him>
My brothers and sisters the Holy Spirit is reminding you & me by the word of God from the Scripture. So let’s take heed carefully on what the Holy Spirit is saying to us. Let’s also encourage and remind each other by saying these words ‘the Lord Jesus is coming soon, be of good cheer’.
We are simply saying Jesus will come soon but someone may ask when? For such question we can give an answer from the answer of our Lord to his disciples when telling them about his return. Jesus was asked the “when” of his return, and he gave only some signs and said that the exact time is known only by God the Father. BUT of course we can know when it is approaching according to the signs he mentioned, read Matthew 24th chapter. Jesus said ‘See, I have told you ahead of time’ Matt 24:25. We need to be watchful and prayerful to be ready for his second coming and to take part in the rapture of the saints when he comes with the Glory of the Father. Therefore, let’s say with Paul and John the Apostle Maran-ata-Lord Jesus come soon. Amen.
May the Lord open our hearts and understanding and illuminate his words to get understanding and know our times, so that we may get ready and glorify our precious Father who is in heaven. Please take time and meditate on God’s word which is the sure foundation of our faith in the Lord.
